California Acupuncture License and Primary Care Provider
California is one of the few states in the USA whereby a licensed acupuncturist is a Primary Care Provider and as such the scope of practice includes both modern biomedicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The license permits the ordering of laboratory tests and image studies that include and not limited to blood, urinalysis, fecal tests, radiographs (x-ray), MRI, and CT scan.

The license includes treatments using and not limited to acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition therapy, diet and life style changes, meditation, Infared, Tuina (a hands on therapy for soft & deep tissue and structural re-alignment to treat pain, pinched nerves, compressed discs and musculoskeletal disorders).

National Certification
All states in the USA, with the exception of California and Nevada, utilize the examination by NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) to assess and establish the qualifications and competency to practice acupuncture, herbal medicine, oriental medicine and biomedicine. Many practitioners hold one or two certification. Van Harding holds all four National certifications (Diplomat of Oriental Medicine) and is permit to practice within 43 states and the District of Columbia. As well, my foreign countries accept the NCCAOM certification.
